The Harlan Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA) welcomes you to the 2019-2020 school year.

The purpose of the PTA is to support the faculty, staff, parents/guardians, and most importantly our students at Harlan Elementary School. Over the years, the PTA has become one of the strongest voices in the educational process that directly supports our children and school. We are committed to building a strong community for our kids.

Through your generosity of time and financial support, we were able to accomplish the following for the 2018-2019 school year in addition to our traditional outstanding programs:

Awarded $12,000 in teacher grants, offered another $250 per classroom teacher for discretionary needs, and an additional $300 for each grade level.

Implemented one of the largest rollouts for robotics in Michigan and offered the district’s only K-3 robotics program for the 2018-2019 school year.

New initiatives – each student plants a tulip at Harlan, created a fun LEGO-theme for our Clinic, added a butterfly garden to the outdoor pavilion, provided recess equipment in outdoor bins, raised funds for our school at Movie Night, and hosted Birmingham’s first Robotics Expo competition.

1. Become a PTA Member

Sign up to join the PTA on the Back-to-School Checklist at the Harlan PTA website. Membership costs $15 per family and gives members voting rights at PTA meetings and access to our new online Directory.

2. Volunteer

Find volunteer opportunities by subscribing to Harlan Happenings (our weekly PTA e-Newsletter) on our PTA homepage. Also, please join our closed Facebook group (https://www.facebook/groups/HarlanPTA) to keep up-to-date with the latest information, volunteer opportunities, and questions asked by the Harlan Community.

3. Financial Support

Please consider giving a tax-deductible donation to the Friends of Harlan. You may donate to the Friends of Harlan, order yearbooks and class shirts, join the PTA, and pay classroom dues through the Back-to-School Checklist on this site. Don’t forget our largest fundraiser—the Auction—planned for March 2020!

If you have any questions, please contact us. We look forward to an exciting year!
